Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s are tools for maintaining operational efficiency while also ensuring compliance with federal regulations. SOPs provide guidance to personnel who carry out routine and recurring tasks.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documents.Reference the most recent DoW/DISA template. For DISA requirement reference the https://dod365.sharepoint-mil.us/:w:/r/Sites/DISA-Action-Officer.
2Format.The SOP shall be in Government format: Will be delivered in the most recent Department of War (DoW) / Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) template. The document will be delivered in Microsoft Word format. The font shall be Times New Roman, 12 pt. Signed SOPs can be converted to Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).
3Content.Delivered SOPs will include the necessary information/elements per the DoW/DISA template. In general, the SOP will include the following:
3.1Table of Contents:For lengthy, detailed SOP, a Table of Contents is required.
3.2General Information:This section provides a basic overview of the reason for the SOP.
3.3Purpose:Why is this SOP necessary?
3.3.1Applicability:When/where/who does this SOP apply.
3.3.2Policy:Is there supporting policy?
3.4Responsibilities:This section lays out the varied roles that are affected by the SOP and the responsibilities of each role. Individual's names shall be avoided in this section, instead using organizational/group identifiers and/or job titles.
3.5Procedures:A detailed explanation of the associated routine and recurring tasks addressed by this SOP. The level of detail shall be sufficient to ensure a user is able to follow the steps and narratives to complete tasks.
3.6Glossary:Provide a list of all included words, phrases, and definitions. Divide the list logically:
