Description & Purpose
The complete data provides the means to request serial numbers for each MARK and MOD nomenclatured equipment to which an identification plate is to be applied. Serial numbers are assigned to each MARK and MOD nomenclatured system and equipment delivered under a production contract. Serial numbers are not assigned to experimental or developmental items.
Application & Interrelationship
This Data Item Description contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract.
Requests for assignment of serial numbers shall be submitted to Commanding Officer, Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, MD., 20640-5000, Code 3710P.
Preparation Instructions
10.1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including approval dates of any applicable amendments, notices and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
10.2Content.The serial number assignment request shall include the following information:
10.2.1Officially assigned nomenclature of the item.This is the name and MARK and MOD type designation obtained in accordance with MIL-STD-1661(OS).
10.2.2Contractor and Government Entity (CAGE) code and Top drawing or arrangement drawing number.
10.2.3Exact quantity of items to be delivered under the contract.
10.2.4Applicable contract number.
10.2.5National Stock Number (If Available).
10.2.6The activity, office code or department and point of contact with phone number of originator submitting the request.
10.3Format.Requests for assignment of serial numbers shall be in contractor's own format.
