The Installation Design Package provides the design, data, and results for installation(s) of facility (ies). The operations and maintenance personnel will retain the Installation Design Package for reference.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for the Installation Design Package resulting from the work task described in the contract. It is intended that all requirements contained herein shall apply to all applicable Department of Defense acquisition programs through all program phases.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2Format.The Installation Design Package shall be in contractor format. The format shall be machine-readable by the Government.
3Content.The Installation Design Package shall contain the following:
3.1Cover Page and Document Tracking Information.
3.1.1Cover Page.Title, Date of Issue, Revision Date, Contract Number, Contractor's name and address, Distribution Statement (ref: DoD Instruction (DoDI) 5230.24 (https://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/dodi/523024p.pdf)), Export Control Warning Label, and Security Classification.
3.1.2Document Tracking - Record of Change Page.A record of all changes made to the Installation Design Package.
3.2Table of Contents.A list of the major sections specified below in 3.3-3.7.
3.3Overview.A description of the purpose of the Installation Design Package.
3.4Design Drawings.Site plans and layouts (i.e., building pads, profiles, typical sections, elevations, grades, site setup, storm and sanitary), building plans and layouts (i.e., engineer and communication schematics, wall sections, structural and architecture drawings), and detail drawings.
3.5Construction specifications for the project, including:
3.5.1Reports from Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Commissioning(i.e., concrete compaction testing, soil compaction testing, pressure testing.)
3.5.2Required waivers or exemptions, if anyJustification: Clarity and consistency.
3.6Design Analyses.The installation design analysis and calculations necessary to substantiate the design and design assumptions. Provide narrative and analysis, including code analysis, by all disciplines (civil, architectural, structural mechanical, plumbing, power and lighting, communications, fire and protection, life safety, etc.).
3.7Site plans.The site plan, as well as applicable drawings.
