The Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) Summary Report provides the project cost allocation by cost category and applicable fiscal appropriate determined by the contractor to deliver and support a system during the performance of a contract.

This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for each tech data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract.

This DID is applicable to all cost reimbursable type contracts over $100,000 in value and 6 months duration, involving development of hardware or software.

It is not intended that all the requirements contained herein shall be applied to every program or program phase. Portions of this DID are subject to deletion tailoring depending upon the program phases in which it is applied in the contract.

This DID is related to DI-FNCL-80166B, Cost Breakdown Structure Detailed Report.

This DID supersede DI-FNCL-80165.

Preparation Instructions

1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as cited in the current issue of the DODISS at the time of the solicitation; for non DODISS-listed documents, as stated herein.
2Format.The Cost Breakdown Structure Summary Report shall be prepared using the DD Form 2417, See Figure 1.
3Content.
3.1Header.
3.1.1System/Project Identification.Identification of the system or project.
3.1.2Contract Number.The contract number.
3.1.3Date.Effective date of data.
3.1.4Point of Contact.Leave the following blank.
3.1.4.1Name.
3.1.4.2Organization.
3.1.4.3Telephone No.
3.2Section A, Acquisition Cost Categories.
3.2.1Columns (a) through (d)enter the dollars for each Acquisition Cost Category by applicable appropriation.
3.2.2Columns (e)enter the total program cost for each Acquisition Cost Category.
3.3Section B, System Acquisition Cost Tools.
3.3.1Columns (a) through (e)enter the sum totals for each column for Section A.
3.4Section C, Life Cycle Support Cost Categories.
3.4.1Columns (a) through (d)enter the dollars Life Cycle Support (LCS) cost category by applicable appropriation.
3.5Section D, Life Cycle Support Cost Totals.
3.5.1Columns (a) through (e)enter the sum totals for each column of Section C.
