Production Line of Balance Status
The DID describes the format for a line of balance report showing a contractor's current progress against planned objectives for the flow of materials and components into end items relative to phased delivery requirements.

Description & Purpose
The line of balance report describes the contractors current progress in a graphic form by comparison of planned objectives for flow of materials and components into manufacturer of end items as related to phased delivery requirements. This report is used as an indicator of the need of management decisions and corrective action.
Application & Interrelationship
7.1 This data item description contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement for this data as included in the contract.
7.2 This data item description may be applied in any production contract to acquire production line of balance status.
Preparation Instructions
10.1Contract.This data item is generated by the contract which contains a specific work task to develop production line of balance status data.
10.2Specific instructions.The production line of balance status shall be graphically depicted as shown in figure 1. The graph shall be prepared for the production items as stated in the specific contract task and shall be supported with a narrative.
10.2.1The graph shall indicate the following elements:
10.2.1.1The objectiveThe cumulative delivery schedule.
10.2.1.2The programPlanned production.
10.2.1.3ProgressThe current performance.
10.2.1.4ComparisonProgram progress to objective.
10.2.2The narrative shall contain the following:
10.2.2.1Explanation of variances from scheduled to actual.
10.2.2.2Statement of problems which resulted in variances.
10.2.2.3Corrective action taken.
10.2.2.4Proposed corrective actions.
10.2.2.5Production recovery date.
10.2.2.6Impact on hardware delivery schedules.
