Description & Purpose
The Engineer Design Test (EDT) Plan describes the acceptable level of performance for a system. The purpose of the EDT Plan is to collect design data, confirm preliminary concepts and determine compatability of components.
Application & Interrelationship
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract.
Preparation Instructions
10.1General.The EDT Plan shall demonstrate confidence that areas of coverage are adequate and that data generated shall assure that objectives of performance can be validated. Maximum use of Government owned facilities and instruments shall be stipulated.
10.2Format.The EDT Plan format shall be contractor selected. Unless effective presentation would be degraded, the initially used format arrangement shall be used for all subsequent submissions.
10.3Content.The EDT Plan shall describe the methods and techniques for obtaining data and shall establish and explain the standards, tests, associated analysis and other means that shall constitute adequate proof, upon completion of the development phase, that an acceptable level of performance can be achieved by the system. It shall identify tests to be conducted for determining compliance with stated technical and operational military requirements and the individual equipment specifications.
10.3.1The EDT Plan shall contain the following:
10.3.1.3Schedules of performance
10.3.1.4Procedures for check out
10.3.1.5Acceptance limits for performance capabilities
10.3.1.6Requirements and characteristics
10.3.1.7Description of test equipment to be used
10.3.1.8List of required Government owned equipment and facilities.
