The post-design Weight Analysis Report is prepared for the first full specification aircraft. The purpose of the report is to provide in a single document a record of integrated design concept, criteria, and weight information which will serve as a baseline working document to be used during the acquisition phase and service life.
a. Aircraft weight, balance, and inertia properties critically affect system performance. This report provides information required to document mass properties trends.
b. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data deliverable resulting from the work tasks described in the contract.
c. DI-MGMT-81503A supersedes DI-MGMT-81503.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as cited in the contract.
2Format.The contractor's format is acceptable.
3Content.The document should be organized generally by subsystem and shall provide the types of information shown below:
3.1Weight effect of the post-proposal, pre-contract negotiations identified by brief descriptive narrative.
3.2Sequential history of the major weight changes incurred during the contract, the cause and source of the change, impact on the configuration, and weight.
3.3A description of each functional subsystem grouping including design criteria, characteristics, and performance.This is to be followed by its chronology of major weight changes.
3.4Effectiveness of the Mass Properties Control and Management Process (MPCMP) used during the program, including functional problem areas encountered.
3.5A group and detailed weight statement, tabulation of external geometry, and takeoff, landing, and cruise performance available from existing working papers, contractual documents, and reports showing two parallel columns - one column which represents the proposal configuration and the second column which describes the production vehicle.
