To provide the users, designers, engineers and planners with the technical data necessary to integrate crypto equipment into communications systems, such as physical descriptions, technical specifications including all electrical interface information, security considerations and environmental requirements.

This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirements as delineated in the contract and paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2, and 5-5 of DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical Manuals.

This DID is applicable to manuals prepared specifically for the Government.

Preparation Instructions

1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval date and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions shall be as stated herein. DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical Manuals, current edition, is available at the National Security Agency, 9800 Savage Rd, Suite 6718, Fort Meade, Md. 20755-6718; Attn: I5222.

2Format.The CSESD shall be in accordance with the format and style requirements of paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1 of DS-56.

3Content.The content shall be in accordance with paragraphs 4-2, and 5-5 of DS-56.
