The Facilities Requirements Document identifies and describes all facilities requirements for maintenance, support equipment, space, utilities, and environment necessary to support the system.

This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirements as delineated in the contract.

Preparation Instructions

1Format.The Facilities Requirements Document (FRD) format shall be contractor format.

2Content.The FRD shall contain a title page specifying the following:

2.1Title/identification of the system/component/program/project.

2.2Title of Document

2.3Contract number

2.4Preparing activity or contractor's title

2.5Security classification, when required.

2.6Distribution statement

2.7Date of generated document

2.8SummaryThe FRD shall contain a summary which includes a brief statement of the overall project status; objectives of the document; summary results; identification of major problems/deficiencies with impact; and recommendations.

2.9Requirements and recommendationsThe FRD shall identify requirements and recommendations (if applicable) for the following:

2.9.1Brief description of functions to be performed and equipment and personnel to be accommodated.

2.9.2Space requirements

2.9.2.1Physical space and layout

2.9.2.2Storage of spares and consumables

2.9.2.3Individual Element Space and weight requirements

2.9.3Utility requirements

2.9.3.1Electrical Requirements

2.9.3.2Gas Requirements

2.9.3.3Electrical Requirements

2.9.4Maintenance Requirements

2.9.5Support Equipment Requirements

2.9.6Environment Requirements such as hazardous materials

2.9.7Any other special facilities requirements (Scope of Certification, etc.)

2.10Appendices.The FRD Appendices shall be included where applicable, for tables, references, charts, or other descriptive material. Each appendix shall be identified and referenced in the appropriate text of the document.
