The Virtual Shelf Commonality Report identifies commonality information that the government uses in managing Total Ownership Cost (TOC).
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data product resulting from the work task described by the contract.
The Virtual-Shelf can be accessed from the following website: https://www.pdrep.csd.disa.mil/default.htm and may be used for guidance.
This DID supersedes DI-MGMT-81971.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and the dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2Format.The Virtual Shelf Commonality Report shall be in the Contractor's format.
3Content.The Report shall identify by Ship Work Breakdown Structure (SWBS) the following information:
3.1Which parts and specifications from the Virtual Shelf have been applied.
3.2What percentage of system components, by SWBS, have been applied.
3.3All parts that have been rolled over from a previous ship design.
3.4Which rolled over parts of previous design are included in the Virtual Shelf.
4The Report shall identify by SWBS and systems,how many deviations from the Virtual Shelf parts and specifications are being requested.
5The technical and business case analyses forthe deviation request specified in the Virtual Shelf shall be included in the report.
