Data delivered using this Data Item Description (DID) is used to support reporting on DMSMS management activities as a part of the Governments' Total System Life Cycle Management responsibilities. This data is also used to track operations of DoD weapons systems and ensure DoD is achieving operational readiness objectives.

a. The data may be obtained during any program life cycle phase.

b. The word "item" is used throughout the document to refer to anything in the system and includes parts, software, materials, chemicals, etc.

c. This DID contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data deliverable resulting from the work task described in the solicitation.

d. The fields in Table 1 titled Reporting Level and Reporting Category are intended to assist the contracting agency in selecting the correct Data Element Numbers for their needs.

Preparation Instructions

1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.

3Format.The data shall be provided in tabular format with the Field Names in Table 1 as the column labels and the data in the Data Collected column as the rows. The data shall be provided as an electronically editable, machine-readable, Comma Separated Values (CSV) text file with text fields enclosed in double quotation marks.
4Content.The DMSMS data for each field shall meet the requirements specified in the Description of Data Collected, and Data Type columns of Table 1. Fields designated by the contract for which data is not available shall be included but left blank. The information shall be included to the lowest indenture level (component level) for all items, including Subcontractor items, which are not commercial items as defined in 48 CFR 2.101 - Definitions.
