Description & Purpose

3.1 An ESM identifies the objectives to be obtained, the estimated cost, and the timeframe of major milestones of the effort.

3.2 Base ESMs are used to identify each area of work to be performed on engineering services contracts. Sub-ESMs address a specific portion of the base ESM.

Application & Interrelationship

7.1 This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement for this data included in the contract.

7.2 This DID may be applied in any engineering services-to-support production contract to acquire base ESMs and Sub-ESMs.

7.3 This DID supersedes DI-A-1039.

Preparation Instructions

10.1Format.The ESM format shall be contractor selected. Unless effective presentation would be degraded, the initially used format arrangement shall be used for all subsequent submissions.

10.2Content.The ESM shall contain the following information:

10.2.1ESM Number - Sub ESMs to be point number of Base ESM.

10.2.2Date - Date of submittal.

10.2.3System/Equipment.

10.2.4Project Title.

10.2.5Major Item.

10.2.6Contractor.

10.2.7Contract Number.

10.2.8Need for proposed work and objectives.

10.2.9Description of proposed work.

10.2.10Estimated cost of engineering, materials, and equipment or services.

10.2.11Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) item, date required, return date, condition on return.

10.2.12Resulting benefits.

10.2.13Estimated completion date.

10.2.14Explanation of ESM revision.

10.2.15Submitted by - Signature and title of company official.
