Description & Purpose

The Manufacturing Technology Report details new or novel manufacturing methods, processes, and techniques in areas where the existing state-of-the-art does not meet military requirements.

Application & Interrelationship

This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract.

This DID supersedes DI-MISC-81176.

Preparation Instructions

10.1General.The Manufacturing Technology Report shall be in one or more of the following forms, as specified in the contract:
10.1.1Interim report
10.1.2Pilot run report
10.1.3Final report
10.2Format.The Manufacturing Methods Report format shall be contractor selected. Unless effective presentation would be degraded, the initially used format shall be used for all subsequent submissions.
10.3Content.The Manufacturing Technology Report shall contain the following:
10.3.1Material and process evaluations.
10.3.2All process validations, to include methodologies.
10.3.3All tests and the results, to include methodologies.
10.3.4Equipment, material and process specifications.
10.3.5Process flow diagrams and schematics.
10.3.6Man loading.
10.3.7Special handling techniques or requirements.
10.3.8Drawings of unique tooling, fixtures, or equipment.
10.3.9Quality control procedures.
10.3.10Process cost analysis and end item(s) cost projections.
10.3.11Cost to the Government, if any, of implementation, documentation and other recurring or nonrecurring costs.
10.3.12Time required to implement the results of the Manufacturing Methods and Technology (MM&T) project into applicable facilities and production lines.
10.3.13Identification of configuration end items and components to which the resulting technology would apply.
10.3.14General survey of potential applications outside the contractor's facilities and products or production lines.
10.3.15Analysis of the possible intended usage of special tooling equipment hardware or embedded computer software and modification and refurbishment cost.
10.3.16Anticipated benefits for each configuration end item or group of end items for varying production rates.
10.3.17Conclusions and recommendations.
10.3.18Additional data necessary to provide a complete understanding and to support the narrative portion of the report.These data may include diagrams, graphs, photographs, sketches, illustrations, computer printouts, etc.
