Description & Purpose

Certificates of admeasurement document the tonnage or internal volume of a vessel. The U.S. Coast Guard uses the established tonnage as the basis for their application of regulations relating to licensing, manning, and inspection of vessels. The tonnage is also used by various national administrations, agencies, and industry as the basis for costs, fees, taxes and tolls.

Application & Interrelationship

7.1 This DID contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirements as delineated in the contract.

7.2 This DID supersedes UDI-A-23019.

Preparation Instructions

10.1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions shall be as specified in the contract.

10.2Format and Content.A certificate of admeasurement shall be prepared in accordance with Title 46 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 69 (46 CFR 69) for each certificate type as applicable below:

10.2.2International Tonnage Convention (1969) Certificate

10.2.3Panama Canal Tonnage Certificate

10.2.4Suez Canal Special Tonnage Certificate
