The Flight Flutter Test Report will demonstrate compliance with flutter safety requirements (aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic) and provide a record of all flight flutter testing performed.
a. This Data Item Description is applicable to any contract for which flight flutter testing is required.
b. This DID contains the content, format, and intended use information for the data deliverable resulting from the work task described in the contract.
c. DI-MISC-81388A supersedes DI-MISC-81388.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference Documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2Format.The Flight Flutter Test Report shall be in the contractor's format.
3Content.This report shall contain the following:
3.1Air vehicle configuration.
3.2Excitation method description.
3.4Test point conditions including altitude, Mach number, equivalent airspeed in knots, and load factor, n, if in an accelerated condition.
3.5Methods of data reduction.
3.6Typical time traces of excitation and response.
3.7Frequency and damping, g, of modes tracked or investigated.
3.8Evaluation of test results by the flutter engineers.
3.9Presentation of results shall include:
3.9.1For each configuration, a plot of altitude versus Mach number with curves of constant equivalent airspeed, the design limit speed envelope of the vehicle, and flutter test points investigated.
3.9.2Plots of damping coefficient, g, and frequency versus airspeed for the modes investigated at a constant altitude and for a given test configuration.
