The Craft Trial Report documents the results of tests, inspections, and operations conducted during Shakedown Trials (ST) or Underway Trials (UT).

a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task required as delineated in the contract.

Preparation Instructions

1Format.The Craft Trial Report shall be presented in the Contractor's format.

2Content.The Craft Trial Report shall include:

2.1Cover.The cover shall contain the following information:

2.1.1Titlee.g. Shakedown (or Underway) Trial Report

2.1.2NAVSEA publication number

2.1.3Volume__of__

2.1.4Dates of conduct

2.1.5Craft hull no.

2.1.6Name and address of contractor

2.1.7Contract number

2.1.8Classification statement (if required)

2.2Table of Contents.The Table of Contents shall indicate the major sections and include a listing of all tests contained in the Trial Report. One complete Table of Contents covering the total set of volumes and appendixes shall be included at the front of volume 1. Each subsequent volume and appendix shall have a separate Table of Contents covering the material contained in that volume.

2.3Introduction and Summary.A brief introduction to the Trial Report and narrative summary of trial conditions, performance, and results shall be included. The Summary shall include as applicable:

2.3.1Craft displacement

2.3.2Drafts and trim

2.3.3Kind of underwater paint and days out of drydock since the last complete underwater painting.

2.3.4Propeller(s) pitch and diameter

2.3.5List of underwater appendages not installed at the time of the Trial.

2.3.6Sea state and weather conditions during the Trial.

2.3.7List of uncompleted tests and events and the reasons for not completing them.

2.4Trial Agenda.The Trial Agenda under which the Trial was conducted shall be included together with all completed test and trial event results. The test and trial event results shall include as applicable:

2.4.1List of satisfactorily completed tests.

2.4.2List of partially complete tests.

2.4.3List of unsatisfactory tests.

2.4.4List of tests not started.

2.5Unsatisfactory Test Results.Explanations of why tests were partially completed or not started and the reason why unsatisfactory test were unsatisfactory shall be included.

2.6Appendix.Raw data or data recordings of unusual size or format shall be presented as a separate appendix.
