The Government AS Hardware in the Loop (HITL) System Support Plan (HSSP) describes the Contractor's plan to deliver, install, and support the Government AS HITL. The HSSP also specifies the Contractor's HITL product deliverables to the Government. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for preparation of instructions for the HSSP.

Preparation Instructions

1Reference DocumentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.

2FormatThe HSSP format may be contractor selected but shall contain all of the Elements discussed below in addition to any other requirements. Unless effective presentation would be degraded, the initially used format shall be used for all subsequent submissions. All updates shall be conspicuously indicated in a manner consistent with standard editorial practices.

3ContentThe AS HSSP will contain the following information:

3.1Table of contents, list of illustrations, acronyms/abbreviations.

3.2OverviewProvide the plan's purpose and scope, system description and overall Contractor strategy to accomplish the contract SOW Government HITL tasking.

3.3Main BodyGovernment AS HITL system design, development, integration, test, delivery, installation and life cycle support plans for the program to include, but are not limited to, the following:

3.3.1List and description of HITL equipment, racks; breakouts and external interface product deliverables to the Government that include all necessary AS Weapon Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs), cables, emulators or simulators, stimulators and instrumentation required to provide complete AS test and integration capabilities.

3.3.2List any technical data and computer software, including source code, which the Contractor proposes to deliver, including data rights and licensing requirements.

3.3.3Plan to connect to the Defense Research & Engineering Network (DREN) as transport and Secret DREN (SDREN), and the Navy Wide Area Network (WAN) for Test and Evaluation (T&E) (NWT&E), where required, to support distributed efforts, to include Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) events and rapid data transfer.

3.3.4Listing of all Information Assurance (IA) artifacts and plan to deliver all IA artifacts, patching, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists and system description required to achieve and maintain an Authority to Operate (ATO) via DREN/SDREN and NWT&E.

3.3.5For all equipment that requires Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, approach to allow for configuration of the addresses.

3.3.6Plan to communicate to or stimulate AS systems via interfaces such as Radio Frequency (RF), digital, and analog interfaces.

3.3.7Plan to modify, integrate and/or install simulation-independent middleware software packages, Architecture Management Integration Environment (AMIE plug-ins), Gateways, Adaptors or Interfaces, permitting System Test and Integration Lab (STIL) systems and subsystems to participate in distributed engineering and test efforts.

3.3.8Plan to limit using proprietary simulations by using Government owned, nonproprietary simulation capabilities such as Navy Portable Source Initiative, (NPSI) and/or, Next Generation Threat System (NGTS).

3.3.9Approach to demonstrate that the HITL system replicates the AS system/subsystem performance as required by the AS performance specification of this contract, including the Contractor's plan to update, standardize; and maintain revision and change histories of all test procedures; and include requirements traceability matrices or equivalent to map test cases to requirements.Automated testing is the preferred method.

3.3.10Plan to deliver a Facility Integration and Acceptance Plan.

3.3.11Plan to deliver Level II drawings and associated lists depicting the designs for the HITL system to the detail necessary for the Government to build and run the simulation and associated equipment.

3.3.12List documentation deliverables required for the Government to operate and maintain the HITL system and associated equipment.

3.3.13Specific Government STIL personnel training needs.

3.3.14Description of how the HITL system design, development, test, documentation and reporting activities will be integrated into its system engineering plans and processes, including the required Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events.

3.3.15Plan to provide life cycle support for the Government HITL system, including, but not limited to, replacement parts, repairs, maintenance, personnel, hardware/software updates and configuration management.

3.3.16Approach to HSSP revisions.
