The CM MICD is a signature-controlled drawing set detailing the mechanical interface between the CM and the nuclear warhead. The CM MICD shall dimensionally define the physical and environmental interfaces between the CM and the nuclear warhead. The CM MICD includes the mechanical layout drawings, information and data, 3D computer models, and/or 3D models derived from measurement (e.g., laser scan). The CM MICD provides a means to document and control changes to the nuclear system throughout the life of the CM and nuclear warhead weapon system.
a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the tasks described by MIL-STD-1822, Nuclear Compatibility Certification of Nuclear Weapon Systems, Subsystems and Support Equipment.

Preparation Instructions
1Reference DocumentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices and revisions, shall be as specified in the solicitation or contract.
2FormatContractor format is acceptable. 3-D STEP file format for 3D models is acceptable.
3ContentThe CM MICD drawings are required to list CM version/configuration and contain all applicable notes and references, a signature block for responsible agency representatives, and 3-D views of the missile. The notes are to include the ejector orifice combinations (pitch valve settings) and the required cable routing to include the aircraft to CM and J1 cable interfaces. The CM MICD shall provide engineering data and descriptions that define the following for the WR configuration:
3.1Worst-case load envelopes imparted on the weapon center of gravity during captive carriage and release or loads imparted on the weapon center of gravity during captive carriage and release for the entire performance envelope (Mach/altitude); if loads differ significantly due to location, define the loads based upon pylon/bay location.
3.2Location and dimensions of the warhead inspection window.
3.3Location of the access cover for the nuclear warhead.
3.4Method of securing the nuclear warhead to the CM showing mounting hardware, including torquing pattern and torque specifications.
3.5CM to nuclear warhead mounting interface details and clearances.
3.6Payload bay structure and component clearance to the nuclear warhead. Define any exclusion zones and component clearance to any exclusion zones.
3.7Cable routing to include CM-to-nuclear warhead cable interfaces, including slack provisions.
3.8Receptacle shell of the J1 connector interfaces.
3.9Clearance distances and angles of all parts of the CM from all other missile structures, missile pyrotechnics and hazards, electrical cables, and other installed equipment.
3.10Three views (top, side, and front) of the missile showing the stowed and deployed missile configurations.
3.11The CM MICD shall provide engineering data and descriptions that define the following for the JTA configuration:
3.11.1Installation of the CM test instrumentation kit.
3.11.2Cable routing to include CM-to-warhead connector, including slack provisions.
3.11.3Receptacle shell of the CM-to-warhead connector interfaces.
3.11.4Location of the instrumentation access panel.
3.11.5Installation/removal of the instrumentation access panel.
3.11.6Clearance distances and angles of all parts of the warhead from all other missile structure, electrical cables, and other installed equipment.
3.12The MICD shall provide:
3.12.1Provisions for recording the coordination and approval by cognizant government agencies and their contractors.
3.12.2References to applicable National Nuclear Security Administration (Sandia National Laboratories) mechanical compatibility control drawings.
