This Data Item Description (DID) specifies the content and format for submitting Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). This DID identifies the format and content preparation instructions for Special Packaging Instructions resulting from the work task described by 4.1 of MIL-STD-2073-1. This data applies to all special group items as defined in MIL-STD-2073-1. When Special Packaging Instructions are required, DI-PACK-80120 Preservation and Packaging Data also applies.

When the SPI applies to packaging of hazardous materials (except those materials excluded by United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods as implemented by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Maritime Organization Regulations), DI-PACK-81059 Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) Test report applies.

This DID contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data product resulting from the work task described in the contract SOW.

This DID supersedes DI-PACK-80121C.

1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract. Unless otherwise specified, all referenced documents are available from the Acquisition Streamlining and Standardization Information System (ASSIST) at https://assist.dla.mil.
