This report describes equipment configuration information necessary to obtain USAF Air Transport Certification.

Application & Interrelationship

7.1 This DID contains the format and content preparation instructions for the Air Transportability Report required by the contract.

7.2 This DID is applicable to equipment being acquired which will require USAF Air Transport Certification for transportation by military aircraft.

Preparation Instructions

10.1Report.The transportability report shall be prepared on plain white 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper using only one side of each sheet. The report shall have a title page that includes the contract number and date. A table of contents shall be provided. The contents of the report shall include, as a minimum, the information described below.

10.1.1Item Description.Description of the equipment item shall include the type of equipment, size, rating, manufacturer, model number and national stock number.

10.1.2Photographs.8-inch x 10-inch, black and white photograph prints shall be included in the report. The photos shall show the equipment item ready for transportation and, if applicable, in the reduced or sectionalized configuration for air transport. Unique assembly or disassembly features shall be shown. Views shall include, but not limited to, a front oblique showing front and side view, and rear oblique showing rear and opposite side. Background in photos shall be void of unrelated objects. The photograph negatives shall be provided with the original transportability report.

10.1.3Sketches.Envelope sketches shall be provided on 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper showing the outline of the equipment item ready for transportation and, if applicable, reduced or sectionalized for air transport. The sketches shall include plan, side and end views of the equipment. Sketch dimensions shall include the equipment's maximum length, width and height. Location (all three coordinates) of the center of gravity with related weight shall also be shown. The sketches shall be used to display other required data, as necessary, for clarification.

10.1.4Sectionalization.If components of the equipment item require removal or relocation to achieve reduced configuration for air transportation, the removal, relocation and reinstallation processes shall be described. (Use same description as provided in the equipment manual.) Special equipment or tools required for sectionalization shall be specified. Time in work-hours and clock-hours required to disassemble and reassemble shall also be specified.

10.1.5Weight.Specify the weight for:

10.1.5.1Operational mode - empty and loaded as applicable.

10.1.5.2Shipping mode - empty and loaded as applicable.

10.1.6Lifting and Tiedown.Specify the number, location and capacity of lifting and tiedown provisions for the equipment and the major components removed the transport. A paper copy of the equipment item's transportation plate shall be provided.

10.1.7General Dimensions and Data.Specify, as applicable, the information below depending on whether the equipment item is tracked, wheeled or skid mounted. Show information on sketched (see paragraph 4) if information needs clarification.

10.1.7.1Dimensions and locations of any significant projections.

10.1.7.10Trailer landing gear pad size.

10.1.7.11Trailer landing gear load.

10.1.7.12Trailer landing gear rating.

10.1.7.13Trailer tongue weight.

10.1.7.14Pintle hook rating.

10.1.7.15Lunette rating.

10.1.7.16Truck tractor fifth wheel height.

10.1.7.17Bogie articulation in degrees or inches.

10.1.7.18Suspension weight ratings.

10.1.7.19Axle weight ratings.

10.1.7.20Axle loads with vehicle empty and with maximum rated load.

10.1.7.21Axle spacing.

10.1.7.22Number of wheels per axle.

10.1.7.23Tire size and ply rating.

10.1.7.24Tire pressure.

10.1.7.25Tire foot prints (length and width) and foot print locations.

10.1.7.26Pressure of tire foot print on surface in pounds per square inch.

10.1.7.27For a tracked vehicle, specify number of tracks, location and dimensions (length and width) of all track areas in contact with the ground.

10.1.7.28Track ground pressure in pounds per square inch.

10.1.7.29For skid mounted equipment, specify number of skids, location and dimensions (length and width) of all skid areas in contact with the ground.

10.1.7.30Skid ground pressure in pounds per square inch.

10.1.8Special Considerations.Describe any unusual or dangerous characteristics of the equipment. Describe any special fragility, shock and vibration considerations.
