This report contains basic identification data required for packaging development. The report can be used as a standalone summary to develop adequate packaging instructions for DoD users.

a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for a Packaging Development Data Report.

b. This DID is applicable to the acquisition of military systems and equipment.

c. This DID supersedes DI-PACK-81582A

Preparation Instructions

1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and the dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions shall be as specified in the contract.
2Format.The report may be prepared in a contractor-selected format so long as it contains the information required for a Packaging Development Data Report.
3Content.The data required for the Packaging Development Data Report is identified below. These data elements are defined in SAE GEIA-STD-0007.
3.1Mandatory and optional report selection.The Packaging Development Data Report consists of the following mandatory selections: see Table 1.
