This Data Item Description (DID) specifies the content and format for submitting the Specialized Reusable Container Design Candidate List.

Preparation Instructions

1Reference document.The applicable issue of the document cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract. MIL-STD-2073-1, Department of Defense Standard Practice for Military Packaging (Copies of this document are available online at https://quicksearch.dla.mil.)

2Content.The Specialized Reusable Container Design Candidate List applies to new Depot Level Repairables (DLR) with unit costs in excess of $30,000 (USD) or a fragility factor of 50G or less. Additionally, the list applies to DLRs where the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is currently utilizing their own OEM or other Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) designed reusable container. Item Fragility Factor shall be as defined in MIL-STD-2073-1. The resulting list shall detail the part number, nomenclature, unit cost (USD) and quantitative fragility factor for each candidate item.

3Format.Contractor format is acceptable. The Specialized Reusable Container Design Candidate List shall be in a format compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Excel.
