Description & Purpose
The purpose of this report is to document the procedures employed by the contractor for the prevention of electrostatic damage to parts due to the handling of Static Sensitive Devices (SSD) and Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWA) containing SSDs.
Application & Interrelationship
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract. This DID supersedes DI-T-5465A.
Preparation Instructions
10.1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval date and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
10.2Format.The report may be in the contractor's format.
10.3Content.This report shall contain the following information:
10.3.1Training.Training and recertification of personnel, including procedures, methods employed, and time intervals between training.
10.3.2Labels.Examples of all static sensitive labels to be used for identification.
10.3.3Static sensitive handling.A description and illustration of the area used for handling static sensitive parts/assemblies and associated items (e.g., static straps and mats, worktop materials, etc.).
10.3.4Preparation instructions.Preparation instructions for all equipments, including the test equipment, automated handling equipment, parts carrier, trays, carts, fixtures, tools, and soldering irons.
10.3.5Special Equipment.A list of all special equipment to be used for static protection (e.g., humidifiers, air ionizers, etc.).
10.3.6Quality assurance procedures.A description of the Quality Assurance procedures for monitoring equipment and work station adherence to the static safe procedures. This will include the following:
10.3.6.1Cleaning schedules and materials used.
10.3.6.2Name of the equipment used to check wrist wraps, bootstraps, and work stations for resistivity, and the schedules for these checks.
10.3.6.3Procedures for the identification of equipment no longer meeting the required specification and methods for correcting the equipment to meet the specification.
10.3.7Inspection.Procedures to be followed during incoming inspection, storage, shipping, and in-plant transportation of wafers, die, packages and PWAs.
10.3.8Disposition.Procedures for the disposition of parts or assemblies received that are not in compliance with static-safe procedures.
10.3.9Identification.Procedures for the identification and classification of failures due to improper handling procedures.
10.3.10Exceptions.Specific exceptions to the procedures outlined in DOD-STD-1686 shall be noted.
