This Data Item Description (DID) will be used to obtain the Technical Data for Munitions (TDM) information that is necessary for the safe and efficient storage, maintenance, inspection and transportation of ammunitions and explosives to be stored on the Eglin Test Ranges.
a. This DID meets the requirements of Eglin Air Force Base Instruction (EGLINAFBI) 91-206, Munitions Source Data.

b. This DID contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirements for this data included in the contract.
c. This DID is applicable to all research and development munitions requiring storage by military personnel.
d. This DID supersedes DI-SAFT-80182B.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as cited in the ASSIST at the time of the solicitation or contract.

2FormatThe TDM shall be in the contractor's format.
3ContentThe report shall include the following:
3.1.1GeneralGeneral appearance of the item, including type (fuze, warhead, bomb, etc.), part number, nomenclature, serial numbers, and information for visual identification of the item.
3.1.2Physical and Operational DescriptionSize, diameter, thickness, energetic composition, etc.
3.1.3Operational DescriptionHow the item attaches, assembles, and otherwise works with the end item.
3.1.4Detailed Description of Explosive Train(Include Quantity and Type of each Explosive Component. Include all types energetic materials used in the item, e.g. lithium based thermal batteries/igniters, compressed gasses, etc.)
3.1.5Net Explosives Weight Per Item(Include total quantity and type of explosives.)
3.1.6Drawings and Schematics(if available).
3.2Technical DataList all of the following subitems. Write each topic as listed after each subletter and parenthetical number.
3.2.1Inspection ProceduresNOTE: The above apply to both the item and its container.
3.2.1.1List defects which render the item unsafeDescribe each defect by quantity, dimensions, location, or percent of area coverage which is most applicable to the defect being described.
3.2.1.2List defects which render the item unserviceableDescribe each defect by quantity, dimensions, locations, or percent of area coverage which is most applicable to the defect being described.
3.2.1.3List defects for which the item is still safe and serviceableDescribe each defect by quantity, dimensions, location, or percent of area coverage, whichever is most applicable to the defect being described.
3.2.1.4List corrective actions necessary to return an item from unserviceable to serviceable for each defect notedFor any parts replacement, include Part Number and quantity of items to be replaced.
3.2.1.5List inspection time interval and percentage sample size for items to be maintained in storage.

3.2.3.1Shelf and service life are defined as follows:
3.2.3.1.1Shelf LifeLength of time an item can remain in storage under prescribed packaging and storage conditions. Expiration date for shelf life on items with month and year listed is last day of month. The starting point for shelf life determination is the date of production of the item.
3.2.3.1.2Service lifeLength of time an item can remain installed in operating configuration or in actual usage. Expiration date for service life will be the last day of expiration month regardless of actual expiration date. Service life will not exceed shelf life of an item.
3.2.3.2Temperature limits.
3.2.3.3Humidity requirements.
3.2.3.5Requirement for inside or outside storage.
3.2.3.6National Stock Numbers (NSNs)For items covered under National Stock Numbers (NSNs), include the shelf and service life established by the developing contractor based on test and historical data.
3.2.3.7R&D itemsFor R&D items which have no Federal Stock, include the shelf and service life established by the developing contractor based on test and historical data.
3.2.4.1Handling procedures (include fragile areas to avoid).
3.2.4.2Equipment required for handling item.
3.2.4.3Tiedown instructions (reference TO 11-1-38 for like items).
3.2.4.4Drop height from which items may be unserviceableRequires specific footage. When item has been dropped and exceeds this distance, indicate disposition.
3.2.4.5List of armed or hazardous conditions indications.
3.2.4.6Container design safety features.
3.2.5Emergency ProceduresList any precautions and procedures to be used until Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) or fire-fighting personnel arrive. (If none or not applicable, so state.)
3.2.6Demilitarization CodeMake one of the following statements: "Demilitarization Code G" (If item contains explosives.) "Demilitarization Code B" (If item is inert.)
3.2.7Security ClassificationClassified and sensitive items shall be accompanied by a statement of required safeguards and necessary storage requirements. Controlled Inventory Item Code (CIIC) must be included. The TDM must include proper distribution statements and marking classifications.
3.2.8Unit CostActual or estimated unit cost.
