The Source Control Document Approval Request provides the Government with a means for approving or disapproving the use of source control documents for specific items selected for use in the equipment.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for a Source Control Document Approval Request resulting from the work task described by 5.13.2 of MIL-STD-31000.
This DID is intended for use in data acquisitions requiring Source Control Documents which the Government may use for future procurements.
This DID supersedes DI-SESS-81010E and is related to DI-SESS-81000F, "Product Engineering Design Data and Associated Lists" and DI-MISC-80071E, “Parts Approval Requests”.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2General.Source Control Document Approval Requests shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-31000.
3Format.Source Control Document Approval Requests shall be in the contractor's format.
4Content. The request shall specify the following:
4.1Nomenclature and description of the item.
4.2The critical application(s) for which the item is to be used.
4.3Number of applications per end item.
4.4Item status as a repair part.
4.5System performance requirements requiring source qualification.
4.6Procedures and criteria required to qualify a source.
4.7Sources of supply and manufacturers' part numbers.
4.8Estimated cost of the item involved.
4.9Estimated cost and time to qualify a source.
4.10Impact on contract cost, schedule and performance if use of Source Control Document for documenting the item is not permitted.
4.11Copy of the approved non-standard part approval request, if the DoD Parts Control Program is applicable under the contract or purchase order.
