The Document Number Assignment Report provides the information necessary to maintain the Government's document number usage records. This provides information on allocated document numbers for engineering design data documents comprising the elements of a TDP including but not limited to drawings, models, specification, Special Inspection Equipment (SIE), special tooling, specifications, software documentation, Special Packaging Instructions (SPIs) and Quality Assurance Provisions (QAPs)
a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for a Document Number Assignment Report resulting from the work task described by 5.13.3 of MIL-STD-31000.
b. This DID may be applied whenever Government document numbers are allocated to a contractor for document identification.
c. This DID supersedes DI-SESS-81011E. This DID was formerly called the Drawing/Model Number Assignment Report.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documents.The applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2General.The Document Number Assignment Report shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-31000.
3Format.The report shall be in the contractor's format.
4Content.The report shall include the date of the report, contractor's name and address and the Government (prime) contract number for which the report is required. The report shall list all Government drawing numbers used or allocated under the contract in numerical sequence and identify the following for each number, as applicable:
4.2Government document number.
4.5End item designation (e.g. weapon system) on which the document is used.
4.6Whether the document number represents an existing document number (a document number identifying a drawing which was prepared outside the scope of the contract for which the report is required), an assigned document number (a document number identifying a drawing prepared under the contract for which the report is required. It is a number allocated under the contract and used to identify a document), or an unused document number (A document number allocated under the contract but not used).
