Weight and Balance Reports are required to provide for control and management of mass characteristics and to ensure minimal mass properties variations.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract.
This DID supersedes DI-GDRQ-81234A.

Preparation Instructions
1Reference DocumentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as specified in the contract.
2FormatThe report shall be in contractor's format.
3ContentThe Estimated Weight and Balance Report shall be in accordance with the requirements of Society of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE) Recommended Practice (R.P.) No.9. Copies of S.A.W.E documents can be obtained from Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc., 375 Redondo Ave, Unit #624, Long Beach, CA, 90814.
3.1The weight statements in SAWE R.P.The weight statements in SAWE R.P. No.10, Parts I and II, shall be used for the Estimated Report.
3.2This report shall contain the maximumThis report shall contain the maximum and minimum weights and moments, with tolerances for each section, that must be held in order to achieve the desired weight and center of gravity of assembled missile.
3.3The report shall also containThe report shall also contain data to show the weight and balance impact of the complete missile installation on the specified launching aircraft. These data shall be in detail such that the Government can identify the individual electronic units.
