The Test Package is used to examine and evaluate an individual's or unit's achievement of specific learning objectives or performance standards.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the preparation instructions for the content and format of the Test Package.
This DID contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data product resulting from the performance requirements described by 3.2.9 of MIL-PRF-29612B, and is applicable to the acquisition of training data products. Data product performance evaluation criteria are specified in 4.3.9 of MIL-PRF-29612B.
It is not intended that all the requirements contained herein should be applied to every program or program phase. Any individual data requirement contained in this DID is subject to deletion tailoring.
This DID supersedes DI-SESS-81525C.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and reviews, shall be as specified in the contract.
2FormatThe contractor format is acceptable. Standard digital data, when specified must be in compliance with the content and format requirements specified in the DoD Data Architecture (DDA) and the Defense Data Dictionary System (DDDS). The deliverable of the product required by this DID meets the intent and requirements of DODINST 5000.2.
3ContentThe Test Package shall contain the following:
3.1Front matterThe content of front matter shall be in accordance with Appendix A of MIL-PRF-29612B.
3.2Test itemsThis data shall consist of the following:

3.2.2Test item identifier
3.2.3A cross-reference list of test item identifiers and related Learning Objective (LO) identifiers
3.2.4Answers to individual test items with the supporting reference identifier
3.2.5A description of test item criticality to

3.2.5.3Environmental considerations
3.2.6A description of test item constraints (e.g., personnel, safety, environmental)
3.2.7A description of test item support materials (e.g., publications, equipment, software, and hardware requirements)

3.4.1Testing planThis data shall document the test strategy for individual courses and shall consist of the following:
3.4.1.1Minimum passing grade for the course and rationale
3.4.1.2Schedule of tests administered in the course and learning objectives measured by each test
3.4.1.3A description of the types of testsA description of the types of tests (e.g., adaptive test, aptitude test, achievement test, comparative test, criterion-referenced test, performance test, performance-based test, etc.) used to determine the trainee's grade, with rationale.
3.4.1.4A description of the grading methodA description of the grading method (e.g., normative, criterion referenced, grading criteria, weighting criteria, etc.) for evaluating student performance on the test, with rationale.
3.4.1.5A description of the method to be used to determine the trainee's final course grade
3.4.1.6A description of the review, remediation, and retesting procedures
3.4.1.7A description of the testing constraints which prevent testing of learning objectives as stated with work-around justification

3.4.1.9Rationale for courses which have SAT/UNSAT grading criteria

3.4.2Test administration dataThis data shall contain the materials necessary for the test administrator to conduct individual tests. It shall consist of:
3.4.2.2Instructions to the individual conducting the testsInstructions to the individual conducting the tests shall include pre-test duties to be completed in preparation for the test, pre-test instructions to the individuals taking the test, test monitoring guidance, and post-test instructions.

3.5Test item cross-reference chartThis data shall include a cross-reference chart showing the relationships among test item, lesson topic, learning objective, training task, and job task.
3.6Standard digital dataStandard digital data shall be delivered for the Standard Data Elements (SDEs).
