The Maintainability and Built In Test (BIT) Demonstration Report is a formal record of the results of the contractor's maintainability and BIT demonstrations and tests and will be used by the procuring activity to evaluate the degree to which the maintainability and BIT requirements have been met. The report is used to deliver the results of maintainability and BIT demonstrations and tests, or tests from which maintainability/BIT evaluation is a byproduct.
Report(s) shall be submitted to the procuring activity in accordance with the schedule incorporated in the test plan and the contract data requirements. The procuring activity may require interim reports where additional detail or extended test durations may be involved.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, intended use information, and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task described in the solicitation, and should be tailored appropriately.

2FormatThe Maintainability and BIT Demonstration Report shall be in contractor's format.
3ContentThe Maintainability and BIT Demonstration Report shall contain the results of each demonstration or test to demonstrate the maintainability/BIT achieved. The report shall contain the following:
3.1Description of demonstration or test performed
3.2Statement of test objectivesincluding type, unit of measure and quantitative goals or requirements to be demonstrated, including specific references to the applicable sections of the specification.
3.3A list of all units that were placed on test during the demonstrationincluding any deviations from the configuration specified in the applicable test plan, and the detailed reason for each deviation.
3.4Date and location of demonstration or test
3.5Discussion of methods and conditions of the demonstration or testincluding test plan and procedure used, source of inserted faults (i.e., revision and date of fault catalog), environmental and use conditions, operational and performance profiles, measurements, methods of evaluating the data obtained and comparison of the conditions with those anticipated in ultimate deployment and use of the contract item.
3.6Results obtainedincluding specific identification and discussion of objectives demonstrated satisfactorily and those not demonstrated satisfactorily.
3.7Factors which influenced the resultsi.e., inserted fault sample size deviation from plan.
3.8Statistical confidence calculationsif applicable.
3.9Assessment of the technical manuals, personnel, tools and test equipment, support equipment, maintenance concept and provisioningfor their effect on quantitative and qualitative demonstrated maintainability and BIT parameters.
3.10Test incident reports, deficiencies, or failure reports generated and corrective action anticipatedif applicable.
3.11Contractor's conclusion and recommendations based on evaluation of the results
3.12Requirements for retest in cases where a reject decision was reached
3.13Results of retestif applicable.
