The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate and determine the inherent reliability designed into each part used in a high reliability program.
The report shall separately cover each electrical part type and number. Parts that are from the same vendor and are identically constructed may be combined under one report. Only one report is required per part number but any change in construction of a part will require an update of the configuration analysis for that part.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract and NSA Standard Number 77-46, "Configuration Analysis" (entire document).
Preparation Instructions
1Reference DocumentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be as stated herein. NSA Standard Number 77-46, "Configuration Analysis," current edition, is available at NSA/I5224, Information Management Services, 9800 Savage Rd, Suite 6718, Fort Meade, Md. 20755-6718.
2FormatThe report shall be in the contractor's format.
3ContentThe Part Configuration Analysis Report shall contain the following information:
3.1Title pageThe report shall contain a title page for each electrical part type and number, and the following information.
aReport title, including equipment designator in capital letters
bPart numbers covered by the report
cDate code of the part dissected
dName of author and official title
eDate report was prepared
fActivity preparing the report
hApproval official name, signature and title
iAppropriate security classification
3.2PhotographsThe following photographs shall be included in the report.
3.3Device cut-a-way sketch and itemized table of materialsThe sketch shall be labeled to illustrate where the materials from the table are located on the sketch.
3.4Manufacturer's process flowThe report shall include a block diagram of the manufacturer's process flow.
