This report is used to evaluate the design approach and compliance for the configuration item, system, subsystem, and Schedule Replaceable Assemblies and to provide visibility to the government. The data may also be used to formulate additional technical direction to the design activity. This report is normally prepared during the analysis effort for each configuration item or subsystem during system acquisition. It may also be applicable to other developmental efforts
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use for the data product resulting from the work task described in the contract Statement of Work/Performance Work Statement.

3ContentsThe report shall be structured to cover each of the major subsections of the design analysis task separately. The analysis report shall correlate the design requirements with the system requirement and any specified requirement for the subsystem or configuration item. The report shall describe or reference all related data (sketches, preliminary drawings, schematics, functional diagrams) necessary for portrayal of the analysis or to aid in an understanding of the analysis.
3.1The Design Analysis Report shall be organized into the following sections
3.1.1ScopeThis section shall be divided into the following sub-sections:
3.1.1.1Objective of the analysis
3.1.1.2Description of the items involvedDescription of the items involved, including adequate drawings, schematics, and embedded digital graphics, to support the analysis;
3.1.1.3Specification of design constraints and assumptions imposed on the analysis
3.1.1.4Discussion of the evaluation and analysis procedure, method, or technique usedDiscussion of the evaluation and analysis procedure, method, or technique used, and its probable accuracy with an estimate of uncertainty, explained by calculations;
3.1.2Identification of source material used in the analysis
3.1.3Results of the analysisResults of the analysis, to include the following:
3.1.3.1Predicted performance related to requirements
3.1.3.2Design impact and any constraints which influence other subsystems or configuration items
3.1.3.3Producibility considerations
3.1.3.4Problems encountered or revealed, and suggested solutions
3.1.4.1Document design compliance to technical requirements
3.1.4.2Detail compliance to military and industry design specification guidance
3.1.4.3Identify where design does not comply with military and industry design specification guidance
