The Repairable Item Report documents the contractor's inspection of the malfunctioning unit for repair, and the extent of repair performed on the unit.
This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data deliverable resulting from the work task described in the solicitation.
Preparation Instructions
1Reference documentsThe applicable issue of the documents cited herein, including their approval dates and dates of any applicable amendments, notices, and revisions, shall be specified in the contract.
2FormatThe Repairable Item Report shall be in the contractor's format.
3ContentThe content of the report shall include the following data elements:
3.1Government Furnished Equipment Inventory
3.1.1Government Furnished Equipment Inventory (General)This section shall identify the following for each repairable item received:
3.1.1.2Contractor's Cage Code
3.1.1.3Contractor Point of Contact
3.1.1.5Date Inventory Completed
3.1.2Government Furnished Equipment Inventory (Items)This section shall identify the following for each item that comprise the repairable item:
3.1.2.1Asset Identification Number (Asset ID#)
3.1.2.2Item Identifier (UII) or DoD recognized Item Unique Identifier (IUID)
3.1.2.3National Stock Number (NSN)
3.1.2.4Unit or Item Cage Code
3.1.2.6Nomenclature (NOMEN)
3.1.2.7Serial Number (S/N)
3.1.2.8Model Number (M/N), if applicable
3.1.2.11Delineation whether the item is the subject of this repairable item report
3.1.2.12Visual condition if the item is not the subject of this repairable item report
3.2Beyond Economical Repair (BER) DeterminationThis section documents the assessment of whether the repairable item is BER. This shall include:
3.2.1Government Furnished Information (GFI) regarding how the item was damaged
3.2.2GFI provided description of the damage
3.2.3GFI photos of the damage
3.2.4Contractors' summary of how the BER determination was madeand the Contractors final recommendation.
3.3RepairThis section shall describe the details of the inspection and repair effort, and provide an airworthiness recommendation if appropriate.
3.3.1Quantitative detailsstating the electrical and physical test requirements and parameters, which the part does not meet.
3.3.2A concise descriptionof the extent of repair actions required to restore the malfunctioning unit to proper operation, including a list of all parts replaced and a description of all alignments or adjustments made.
3.3.3Indicate cause of item malfunctionwith all quantitative details.
3.3.4For airworthiness related itemsan airworthiness recommendation to include the assessment of airworthiness and safety of flight, and documentation of any residual risks from an airworthiness perspective.
