Data delivered using this Data Item Description (DID) will be used to support Supply Chain Management activities. Those activities may require collecting Bill of Materials data as a part of the Department of Defense's (DoD) Total System Life Cycle Management responsibilities. The data may be obtained during any life cycle phase. The word "item" is used throughout the document to refer to anything in the system and includes parts, software, materials, chemicals, raw materials, etc.

This DID contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data product resulting from the work task described in the solicitation.

Bill of Materials (BOM) data can be used to establish the production status of items used in a system. The BOM will also provide Program managers with essential information that enables the identification, mitigation, and management of hardware and software production, demand, capacity, throughput and obsolescence. The data will be used in industrial base illumination, demand, capacity, and capability modeling as well as enable standard and efficient sharing of information on common items.

2FormatThe Supply Chain Management Data shall be provided in tabular format with the Field Names in Table 1 as the column labels. The data shall be provided as an electronically editable, machine-readable, Comma Separated Values (CSV) text file with text fields enclosed in double quotation marks.
3ContentThe data shall contain the information specified by the contract as referenced by the Data Element Numbers in Table 1. The data shall meet the requirements as specified in the Definition, Notes and Instructions, and Data Type columns of Table 1. The indentured path to the system level shall be identified using the item/Next Higher Assembly (NHA) method detailed in Table 1. All fields designated by the contract shall be included. Fields for which data is not available and which are not designated as "Required" in the Notes and Instructions column of Table 1 shall be left blank. The data shall be included to the lowest indenture level (component level) for all items, including subcontractor items, which are not commercial items.
