To request engineering assistance required to resolve structural, component, or system deficiencies; or technical assistance pertaining to the installation, operation and maintenance of equipment.
a. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format, content, and intended use information for the data deliverable resulting from the work task described in the solicitation.
b. This DID is applicable to Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts wherein the contractor is responsible for the O&M of Communications-Electronics systems.
c. This DID supersedes DI-TCSP-80235A.
Preparation Instructions

2FormatThe request shall be in a contractor prepared message format.
3ContentThe request shall identify and contain the following data:
3.1Subject"Request for Engineering or Technical Assistance." Include both the equipment and its location.
3.2Para 1Name of maintaining Command requesting support.
3.3Para 2Identify the equipment by name, designated type number, National Stock Number (NSN), Serial Number (SN), or manufacturer's name and part number (if not type numbered).
3.4Para 3Name of Base and location (state/country) where equipment is located.
3.5Para 4Nature of the problem.
3.6Para 5Actions taken by the maintaining activity and results.
3.7Para 6Actual or estimate of assistance required.
3.8Para 7Date assistance is required.
3.9Para 8Statement that the "Requirement exceeds the capability of the maintaining Command."
3.10Para 9Date and time the initial telephone request for technical assistance was made. (If emergency request.)
3.11Para 10Name, duty position, organization, and telephone number (DSN or commercial number and extension, if applicable) of individual making the initial telephone request.
3.12Para 11Name, grade, organization and telephone number (DSN or commercial number and extension, if applicable) of individual accepting the initial telephone request.
