The Limited Maintenance Manual supports limited maintenance of the equipment by technicians who are trained in the equipment logic and are not permitted to perform electronic piece-part isolation and replacement, or maintenance operations that involve soldering.
This DID contains format and content preparation instructions for the data product generated by the specific and discrete task requirement as delineated in the contract, and paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2 and 5-1 of DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical Manuals.

DS-56, Data Standard for the Preparation of INFOSEC Technical Manuals, current edition, is available at the National Security Agency, 9800 Savage Rd, Suite 6718, Fort Meade, Md 20755-6718, and Attn: I8222.
2FormatThe Limited Maintenance Manual (Type I) shall be in accordance with the format and style requirements of paragraphs 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1 of DS-56.
3ContentThe textbook content shall be in accordance with paragraphs 4-2 and 5-1 of DS-56. Detail or specified information concerning the cryptologic or internal cryptographic functions must not be included.
